Questions

Parents ask us

Is martial arts, karate or parkour safe for my child?

Yes. Martial arts and parkour are safe for children when they're practiced with proper supervision in a controlled environment. Our instructors put safety first and teach every technique in a controlled way to keep the risk of injury low.

What age can my child start at Team Chip?

It depends on the program. Little Dragons karate starts at age 4, Little Krakens Jiu Jitsu at 4 (Abilene HQ), and Kids Karate, Kids Jiu Jitsu and Parkour at 7.

Not sure which class fits? Our program directors are happy to talk through your child's readiness when we call.

Will martial arts make my child more aggressive?

No. Martial arts training is designed to teach discipline, respect and self control. Our instructors teach conflict avoidance first, and students learn to use their skills responsibly.

What if my child isn't athletic or coordinated?

That's exactly who martial arts is for. Every student starts as a white belt and moves at their own pace, and coordination, strength and confidence grow with every class.

How will training at Team Chip help my child?

Kids build confidence, focus, discipline and respect, along with real fitness and friendships. Parents tell us the changes show up at home and at school, not just on the mat.
